Each card is pictured twice on the game board. TABLE FOR NUMBER OF CARDS DEALT EACH PLAYER:īeginning with the player to the left of the dealer and moving in a clockwise direction, each player selects a card of their choice from their hand and places it face up on a discard pile (players should start their own discard pile in front of them visible to all other players) and then places one of their marker chips on the matching card on the game board. Be sure all members of a team use the same color marker chips. The dealer should shuffle the cards and deal out the same number of cards to each player (see table below for proper number of cards to be dealt). Players cut cards and lowest card deals – Aces are high. Team members must alternate their physical positions every third player around the playing surface. Team members must alternate their physical positions with opponents around the playing surface.įor 3 players or 3 teams: Team players must divide evenly into three teams. Place the game board on a flat surface with enough room around the game board for placement of the draw deck of cards, marker chips and discards for each player.įor 2 players or 2 teams: Team players must be evenly divided into two teams. More than one player may use the same corner as part of a Sequence.įor 2 players or 2 teams: One player or team must score TWO SEQUENCES before their opponents.įor 3 players or 3 teams: One player or team must score ONE SEQUENCE before their opponents. When using a corner, only four of your marker chips are needed to complete a Sequence. All players must use them as though their color marker chip is in the corner. NOTE: There are printed chips in the four corners of the game board. You can put limits on the amount of times you can go through the stock pile.A connected series of five of the same colored chip either up or down, across or diagonally on the playing surface. Also, allow for any card to start a new column in an empty column space (rather than just the king). This way an 8 of hearts could be placed onto a 9 of diamonds. To make the game of Solitaire easier, you can try allowing cards of different suits to be moved to the columns (rather than opposite colors).Play solitaire the same way, but with two decks using 9 columns and 8 foundations.Pull one card at time, rather than three, from the stock pile. There are lots of variations of solitaire. Other Variations of the Game of Solitaire If you run out of stock cards, turn the waist stack over to make a new stock pile and start again, pulling the top three cards off, turning them over, and starting a new waist stack. You can only play the top card off the waist stack. To get new cards from the stock pile, you turn three cards at a time face up into the stack next to the stock pile called the waist stack. Any new column must be started with a King (or a stack of cards that starts with a King). If you get an empty column, you can start a new column with a King. Stacks of cards may be moved from one column to another as long as they maintain the same order (highest to lowest, alternating colors). For example, if it was a 9 of hearts (red), you could put an 8 of spades or clubs onto it. To move a card to a column, it must be one less in rank and the opposite color. They must be stacked by suit and in order, starting with the Ace, then the 2, 3, 4,….ending with the Queen and then King.Ĭards that are face up and showing may be moved from the stock pile or the columns to the foundation stacks or to other columns. Each stack represents a suit (hearts, clubs, etc). At the start of the game these stacks are empty. The goal of the game is to move all of the cards to the "foundations" these are four additional stacks of cards. You can start a new stack, called the waist stack, by turning the top three cards of the stock pile over. The remaining cards go face down in a single stack called the stock pile.
